📚 Book Tag - My Reading Plans for 2026
Share

I discovered this list on Bailee's YouTube channel and decided it would make a fun blog post. So here we go with some fun bookish questions and answers. Since we are already in April, I thought I'd write down my plans for the remainder of 2026.Â
It's going to be an awesome year!
1. How many books are you planning on reading in 2026?Â
For the past few years I have taken part in the GoodReads Reading Challenge. Last year, I went right past my goal when I read 90 books with a goal of 52, and so this year, I knew I was going to increase it. This years goal is 100 books, and as I am currently writing this on 6th of April 2026 I am eleven books behind schedule. Giving myself a bit of grace, though as I have been busy with my business and one thing or another. Plus, this year has just started. Plenty of time to catch up and get ahead of the game.Â
2. A book you’re likely to re-read this yearÂ

I don't really re-read books very often, but one that I am currently re-reading is Pearly Gates by Bonnie Solomon. It was one of my favourite reads of 2025, and the second book in the series, Midnight Croissant, is coming out this month, so I couldn't wait to dive back into the fabulous world Bonnie has created before I read the second book, which I am lucky enough to have received an ARC for. So excited!
3. A priority read on your 2026 tbr

I have had The Impossible Fortune by Richard Osman on my tbr for ages, and got the physical hardback for my birthday in December. Still haven't read a page. There are so many books that I want to read, though. My Kindle is exploding with awesome books.
4. An author you won’t be reading more books from this yearÂ

This is a tough one for me. There is an author that comes to mind whose first book I absolutely adored, and the second I DNF'd. When I read The Women In The Wallpaper I was absoltuely captivated, and it became one of my favourite reads of 2025. I read another book by her, The Magician's Wife, and had to dnf it. I just couldn't get into it at all, and decided not to continue. I think I might try another book by her and see how that goes before deciding if I never want to read her books again. She has the ability to write a breathtaking book like The Woman in the Wallpaper, and I know she can do it again.Â
5. Something new you want to read! (new genres or tropes)Â
I already read a fairly wide range of book genres and tropes. The only genre I won't read is straight romance, and I don't see that changing anytime soon.Â
6. A popular book you want to read

There are so many. TikTok, Bookstagram and BookTube creators are always giving me new books to add to my ever growing tbr list. I have heard a lot of good things about The Everlasting, by Alix E Harrow, so I'm eager to dive into that. I have it already on my Kindle, so now I just to open it up.Â
7. Most anticipated 2026 book release

One? I have so many. Richard Osman is releasing a new book in September. It will be the second book in his new We Solve Murders series of books, so I can't wait to grab that. As I've already mentioned, I can't wait to read Midnight Croissant by Bonnie Solomon.Â
8. A bookish goal for 2026

I just want to continue finding and reading fantastic books, and crush my GoodReads Reading Challenge for the fourth year in a row. I really want to read a Brandon Sanderson book, and I finally will have a chance, as Trees of the Emerald Sea is my local Chapter 25 book club book of the month in June. So excited!
9. A book that’s been on your tbr you probably won’t ever read
I live under the belief/delusion that I will read every book on my tbr at some point. Assuming I live to be 1000 years of age, I can do it.Â
10. A series you want to read this yearÂ

So many, but one near the top of my list is the Zodiac Academy series by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti. I know lots of people who love it, and some who hate it, so I'm curious to find my own opinion of the series. There are twelve in the series and they all seem to be big books, so if I love the series, it's going to take me a while to get through them all. Very sweet that they are all included on Kindle Unlimited.Â
11. Your auto buy authors going into 2026

Richard Osman, as always. I have also added T Kingfisher to my list, as well as Sarah Bonner, Gemma Rogers, V. E. Schwab and Bonnie Solomon.Â
12. A book to show adaptation you’re excited about this year

Sunrise on the Reaping was one of my favourite books of 2025, and so I am very excited to see this movie when it comes out in the UK in November 2026. Such an amazing cast.
I just started watching Bridgerton, and I really want to dive into the book series by Julia Quinn as well, and have them read before series five starts. The books are always better than the movie/television show, but since I've watched the show before reading the books I'm curious to see how they are different. Usually, I prefer to read the books first and then watch the movie/tv show, but it didn't work that way this time.Â
13. A sequel you’re anticipating

I can't wait to read The Divines, the next book in Rachel Greenlaw's The Ordeals series. I believe it's coming out sometime in late 2026, and I am so excited.
14. Bookish things you’re leaving in 2025Â
I need to read more physical books rather than always getting ebooks. They are just so simple to order, and instant, which is tough to beat. There is nothing better than turning an actual page, though rather than a digital one. But first, I need to get some bookcases to store them all.Â
15. What to expect from this blogÂ
Consistent blogs every week, showcasing lots of amazing books. I want to inspire you to read some of the books I have loved recently and, hopefully, introduce you to some books and writers who may be new to you.Â
16. How has your reading taste evolved from last year
I am much more interested in reading something outside my comfort zone. In 2025, I started reading more horror books. I also became a huge fan of audiobooks, and I discovered the wonderfulness of immersive reading.
17. BookTube creators who inspire you
I subscribe to quite a few on socials, but the two I regularly watch on You Tube are Bailee and Cari Can Read
18. Something you want to say to anyone wanting to start a bookish account
Just do it.Â
